The controller may be used to mute the speaker, alter the volume, and change the Eq modes and settings. The wireless speaker comes with a one-of-a-kind touch controller that puts everything at your fingertips. One of our favorite features of Ai40 is the ability to modify the sound character by tweaking the bass and treble settings (you have to use the remote for that). After all, the Ai40 is a little speaker set that won’t be able to create those sub-bass sounds. When it comes to bass, there are some limitations, which is entirely understandable. The vocals, in particular, have a clean and detailed midrange. The bass is precise, tight, and forceful. The acoustic performance of the system is outstanding. One 5in woofer and one 1in tweeter are housed in each computer speakers. The speaker set is also Bluetooth-enabled and supports the aptX audio codec. Unlike the Audioengine A5+, the Fluance Ai40 lacks additional analog inputs, USB connections, and sub-out ports.
On the back of the active/main speaker, there is simply one pair of RCA ports and a Bluetooth pairing button. You can change the bass and treble levels, as well as pick the input and control the playback and volume. The remote is simple to operate and responds quickly. You must use the provided remote for all additional controls. There is only one control button (power/volume dial) on the main/active speaker.
